About the Job:
SBI is seeking a Senior Associate – Capital Advisory Services. S/he will be working on specific mandates – both in execution and in development, and more general business building and strengthening of practice infrastructure and systems. S/he will report to director or senior in CAS practice.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Transaction execution:
- Mandate/transaction execution in all phases, from identification and pitch to design and structuring, marketing, negotiation, and closing;
- Leadership of smaller mandates;
- Participation in or responsibility for:
- Investor calls/meetings;
- Maintain investor data bases and ensure investor communication and feedback is tracked;
- Prepare transaction materials such as budgets, marketing, and investor documentation;
- Carry out due diligence, data room establishment, and roadshow arrangements;
- Develop fund/company business plans and build financial models;
- Term sheet and document negotiation;
- Manage junior staff such as associates, analysts and interns, and external parties such as legal counsel.
- Special projects to be defined and assigned by reporting manager.
- Business building:
- Participate in SBI calls including weekly CAS and company-wide pipeline and business building calls;
- Business building through own networks and cultivation of SBI client and investor networks;
- Identify business opportunities through maintenance of relations with SBI’s capacity solutions practices;
- Contribute to the team’s efforts with respect to product innovation and transaction design;
- Research, drafting, editing, and formatting of transaction proposals, including development of budgets in competitive bidding situations as well as unsolicited sales proposals.
- Development of tools for the CAS practice:
- Origination and contribution to materials, processes, and tools that will contribute to the growth of the practice. These may include marketing materials describing the practice, template financial models, or other tools to improve efficiency, knowledge management, and marketing efforts;
- Work with colleagues across SBI to broaden the knowledge of CAS products and services, and assist with the creation of a “CAS-literate” cadre of consultants within the firm's regional offices.
- Work with other practices:
- S/he may be required from time to time to work with SBI capacity solutions practices on proposals or mandates where combined teams or inputs are required, or where capital advisory is part of a broader capacity building mandate.
Qualifications:
- Must have or be prepared to obtain FINRA Series 7 registration, and possess strong financial modeling skills;
- An appetite for the sometimes fast-moving and multi-tasking environment of a transaction team, including willingness to put in potentially long hours around deadlines;
- Ability to deliver consistently high levels of accuracy, efficiency, and follow-through;
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including proposal and presentation writing;
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and proactively ask questions as needed;
- Ability to take full ownership of assigned projects and deliver these without close supervision;
- Willingness to travel internationally on short-term assignments;
- Ability to work in at least one non-English language of our overseas practice areas (e.g. French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic) is preferred but not essential.
