Background:
The Smart Campaign's goal is to create a microfinance industry, or more broadly, a financial inclusion community, that keeps clients first. It will launch a client voice market research and learning project. Through listening directly to clients, market stakeholders can raise awareness and dialogue with each other to identify potential issues and red flags.

About the Job:
Accion is seeking a Client Voice Consultant for the Smart Campaign at the Center of Financial Inclusion. S/he will be responsible for the selection of a market research methodology and sampling strategy, instrument design, and oversight over data collection in two markets, one being South Asia. S/he will work closely with the Smart Campaign team in the design and implementation of this work.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  •     Responsible for selection of a market research methodology and sampling strategy for two countries;
  •     In concert with Smart Campaign team and other stakeholders, develop survey instrument(s) and piloting processes;
  •     Participate in key planning conversations with market stakeholders such as microfinance networks and regulators in the creation of the instrument;
  •     Participate in kick-off meetings to launch the market research;
  •     Create quality control measures in market research implementation;
  •     Oversee and direct cleaning and analysis of data;
  •     Write country-level publications for two countries in concert with Smart Campaign team;
  •     Participate in the dissemination of the country-level publications through webinars and possible live events.

Qualifications:

  •     Master's or PhD in Economics, Social Science, Public Policy or a related field;
  •     Minimum of 5 years' background in economics or social science/market research - both quantitative and qualitative work. Market experience in microfinance or financial inclusion is important;
  •     Combination of work and research experience is required;
  •     Experience designing and implementing survey instruments in developing countries is critical;
  •     Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical software such as Stata, SPSS or CS Pro;
  •     Willingness to travel and often for several weeks at a time;
  •     Fluency in English with strong oral, written and communication skills. Additional languages helpful;
  •     Experience managing projects and multi-disciplinary teams; skilled at influencing diverse stakeholder groups and track record of good relationship management skills.
