CARE seeks a Program Officer who will be responsible for providing the Director of Strategic
Initiatives and Deputy Director of Learning Tours with a wide range of program support including research, communications, budget monitoring and some administrative support. The Program Officer will be primarily focused on supporting CARE's "Learning Tours" program - a program to recruit and educate Members of Congress and other influential individuals about the importance of global health programs with a focus on family health outcomes. The Program Officer will also support other Strategic Initiatives within the Policy and Advocacy Unit and provide administrative and budget support to the Unit.
Responsibilities include
: •Research and compiling information on family health programs, managing Learning Tours contracts, Congressional Ethics Committee Filings, and grant reporting and providing administrative assistance to Strategic Initiatives team in DC.
•Liase with Members of Congress’ offices to schedule meetings, coordinate travel, medical and security issues, liase with web team, board of directors, correspondence with the President's office and assist with other communications support like the development of presentations.
 •Support the development and research of trips - engaging other NGOs, governments and multilaterals to assess program possibilities.
•Work independently providing support on a daily basis to the Dir. of Strategic Initiatives. This position operates in a fast paced, high stress, and dynamic environment.
 •Build and maintain knowledge of family health policy issues and will serve as a liaison to other units and stakeholders.
Requirements:
 •College degree in relevant field
•Specific focus in international development or communications desired.
 •Two years of relevant experience - either working on or with Capitol Hill, working in global health field or in communications field. Experience working in developing world or on Capitol Hill strongly desired.
 •Computer skills to include spreadsheets and word processing
