Job Summary
Primary purpose of this position is to plan and manage the delivery of business systems solutions and associated application technical support services in support of business objectives and ongoing operations. This includes systems and project planning, estimating, execution, implementation and ongoing support. Individual will work closely with the functional business groups to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of systems solutions deployed in support of business goals and objectives. The Project Manager will be required to periodically interact with other departments, both within and outside of the organization, to accomplish stated goals and objectives. The incumbent must be aware of all current business policies and procedures across all departments.
Essential Functions
• Establish and maintain internal business that inspire confidence and control from the first meeting through successful implementation
• Adapt to different organizational dynamics and team dynamics as appropriate to each situation
• Ensure that initial plans, as well as any changes in the course of the project, are communicated and understood by senior management and internal team members, particularly as these plans and changes impact schedule, cost, or resource allocation
• Identify, manage, and document changes to original scope to minimize impact to schedule, cost, and resource allocation; such changes will be clearly documented and communicated to internal team members, and senior management
• Resolve or escalate issues that impact schedule, cost, or resource allocation to senior management in an efficient and timely manner
• Timeliness is particularly important so that all possible action is taken to ensure on-time project success
• Create and maintain appropriate documentation in the form of Microsoft project plans (or other acceptable project management software), meeting notes, status reports, resource plans, executive summaries, and any other documents appropriate to an engagement; these documents are expected to be continuously maintained and to reflect current project status at all times
• Provide clear leadership in the form of meeting facilitation and active engagement in detail tasks to assure schedules are met
• The completion of specific project tasks when needed
• Ensure all appropriate resources have clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities with overall deliverables; plans maintained by the Project Manager must reflect reasonable goals for these individuals and provide a basis for common expectation of success
• Clearly manage and communicate dependencies (including client and third-party dependencies) so that schedules do not slip
• Hold all parties responsible for these dependencies in a professional and appropriate manner to highlight risk and ensure success
• Create and maintain a positive, collaborative, and proactive, relationship with all project team members
• Ensure the seamless transition from initial planning, through documentation, design, development, testing, implementation, and hand-off to client maintenance teams
• Assure that all acceptance criteria, as relevant to the client, are understood and accounted for in all plans; this includes any criteria not necessarily relevant to the process
• Ensure the most appropriate and effective design for all project deliverables; issues should be managed based on clear understanding of specific business requirements and overall program and not in reactive modes to satisfy only surface needs
• Collaborate with all project contributors in the best interest of the project; where concerns over the priority, motivation, or quality of a resource arises, such concerns will be escalated to the Vice President of Operations in a timely and appropriate manner so as to assure overall project delivery
• Responsible for all portions of a project management relating to new account acquisitions, including but not limited to contracts, proposals, project planning for implementation of new accounts
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements A Bachelor’s degree and four to five years’ experience with project management in an insurance/contracting setting is required.
