RISK MANAGER The VA San Diego Healthcare System is a progressive and dynamic tertiary care teaching facility affiliated with the University of California San Diego. We provide care to a large and diverse Veteran population in southern California utilizing innovative and proactive approaches to improve Veterans' health and well being. The organization has one full-time vacancy for a Registered Nurse to serve as Risk Manager. Responsible for developing and managing the Risk Management Program in accordance with regulatory agencies, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and facility requirements. The Risk Manager provides advice and support to the medical center staff, directs the development and maintenance of programs designed to reduce risk at all levels within the healthcare delivery system, and provides professional management, educational assistance and policy development and implementation guidance in the area of risk management. Risk management activities encompass both inpatient and outpatient care, include all healthcare specialties and are integrated into the Performance Improvement Program. Managing the claim process at the facility level, collaboration with attorneys, coordinating National Practitioner Data Bank and Medical Advisory Opinions, facilitating the disclosure process and peer review are essential responsibilities of the position.

 Preferred Experience: 
The qualified candidate will have one year experience in Healthcare Risk Management and working with medical malpractice claims. Strong interpersonal and computer skills are extremely desirable.
