SUMMARY: Supports the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of democratic development programs in Central Asia and Turkey. Serves as headquarters point-of-contact for one overseas office and
provides grants administration support across Central Asia and Turkey programs, including reviewing financial reconciliations, processing wire transfers, drafting budgets and workplans, coordinating travel and events, and drafting donor reports. Contributes to program design process through research, participation in strategic discussions, coordinating proposal processes and drafting proposals. Keeps abreast of and reports on political developments in Central Asia and Turkey.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •     Provides administrative and logistical support including processing wire transfers, reviewing financial reconciliations and organizing travel or events
  •     Point-of-contact for one overseas office: ensures that field requests are addressed promptly
  •     Drafts budgets, monitors program spending with direction from manager
  •     Coordinates proposal and donor reporting processes
  •     Drafts donor reports and proposals with direction from manager
  •     Participates in strategic planning and program design discussions
  •     Writes minutes of internal meetings, news summaries, and briefs about external meetings on Central Asia and Turkey

Job Requirements
  •     Bachelor’s degree
  •     Coursework and/or experience in international or democratic development, community organizing, political campaigns, non-profits, grants administration, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, or related subject a plus
  •     Experience living/working/traveling overseas preferred

  •     Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact across teams, cultures and with all levels of staff
  •     Good analysis skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  •     Good problem solving skills
  •     Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions
  •     Knowledge and interest in basic budget and accounting procedures
  •     Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team
  •     Demonstrated interest in grants management and democratic development
  •     Interest in and knowledge of Eurasia region, preferred
  •     Russian or Turkic language abilities a plus
  •     Working knowledge of MS Office or Google spreadsheets and documents
