The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has an immediate opening for a Lead Researcher at its office in Los Angeles, California, US.
The role will support a range of projects and activities in the gTLD Services area. This is a new full-time position reporting to the Director, Operations & Policy Research.

The role involves participation in a number of cross-organizational projects in areas such as policy implementation, rights protection, and internationalized domain names (IDNs), with a focus on multi-stakeholder collaboration.
This is an ideal position for candidates with 5-7 years of work experience in a professional environment.
Job activities include:
- Providing focused project leadership and support, including collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on problem-solving and issue resolution.
- Serving as subject-matter expert on cross-functional teams, anticipating developments and supporting executive management and department lead discussions.
- Managing and interacting with contractors.
- Participating in community meetings and related outreach activities.
- Convening and supporting working groups and open consultations at face-to-face meetings or via online collaboration tools.
- Preparation of formal reports, staff briefings and presentations for internal and external ICANN stakeholders, including research and synthesis of multiple sources of information, managing inputs from internal and external stakeholders.
- Serving as subject-matter expert on cross-functional teams, anticipating developments and supporting management discussions where necessary.
- Developing summaries and analysis of public comments for publication, including consultation and collaboration with relevant teams and internal or external subject matter experts.

Required Skills
- Superior English communication skills (oral and written).
- Knowledge of at least one language other than English is highly preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on complex, non-routine issues.
- Cross-cultural communications skills, listening and communicating with tact and diplomacy in daily interactions.
- Ability and motivation to acquire new knowledge quickly and comprehensively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work in fast paced, cross-cultural team environment, including working with staff members and stakeholders in multiple time zones.
- Relevant DNS industry knowledge and experience is preferred.

Required Experience
BA or BS or higher degree and 5-7 years of work experience in a professional environment.
