POSITION SUMMARY:
*Grant funded.
Under the direction of the Health Systems Training Officer, the Quality Improvement Training Officer will be responsible for coordinating quality improvement (QI) and health systems-related training and technical assistance activities, needs assessments and workplans, adapting QI and health systems competencies to host country settings. Develops and/or adapts QI and health systems training materials and tools, and provides hands-on support to distance education projects.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Quality Improvement Training Officer will:
- Coordinate QI-related training and technical assistance activities, including but not limited to: assisting with the development and management of QI training workplans; convening and documenting regular meetings and calls; organizing and disseminating QI training materials and resources; and tracking correspondence, contracts, and payment information.
- Assist the health systems team in strategic planning, including the development and implementation of training needs assessments, as well as ongoing reviews and evaluation of training activities.
- Support the health systems team with the development, preparation, production, and adaptation of training materials (competencies, curricula, lesson plans, slide sets, case studies, etc.).
- Provide hands-on support to both on-site training and distance education projects, including but not limited to assisting with logistics and with telecommunications platforms
- Document health systems training activities and help to produce reports, notes, and minutes reflecting these activities and their impact.
- Liaise with other teams within ICAP (including but not limited to the NY-based Clinical & Training Unit, Strategic Information Unit, and Implementation Unit and ICAP country teams as appropriate) and within MSPH.
Travel to domestic and international meetings/trainings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires approximately two weeks annually of domestic (inside of the United States) travel to meetings and trainings.
- Requires approximately four weeks annually of international travel (involving several individual trips) to program countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Master’s degree in Public or Global Health preferred.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Two (2) years of direct and relevant experience in adult (professional) education and/or training.
Demonstrated talent in writing technical content and training materials.
Excellent English-language verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Demonstrated experience working independently and managing various tasks in a team setting on a daily basis.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant professional experience in international settings and in lower-income countries strongly preferred.
- Experience in global health and quality improvement strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of competency-based training strongly preferred.
- Experience managing distance education (trainings, webinars etc.), via an online platforms such as Adobe Acrobat Connect is strongly preferred.
