Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), is an international non-profit research organization. Based in New Haven, CT, with offices in Washington, D.C. and worldwide, IPA works with development partners and academic researchers to create and evaluate approaches to solving development problems, to communicate “what works” in development and to scale up successful projects in a variety of fields, including health, education, microfinance, governance and agriculture.
Position Summary
Innovations for Poverty Action seeks a qualified applicant for the position of Grants Administrator to manage a large portfolio of private and public grants and contracts. This position is based in New Haven, CT. The Grants Administrator will report to the Director of Grants, Compliance, and Financial Planning and will collaborate closely with the Grants Team. Additionally, the Grants Administrator will work closely with the Finance Team, General Counsel, Country Directors, and project staff in various countries to maintain financial oversight over projects and to ensure compliance with donors’ requirements. This includes tracking the terms and conditions of grants and contracts, including temporary and permanent restrictions; tracking the timing of deliverables and issuing invoices and reports to donors. The Grants Administrator will be the primary liaison with donors and Principal Investigators (PIs).
Responsibilities
- The Grants Administrator will assist in providing operational, financial, and administrative support in the following ways:
- Manage a large portfolio of grants and contracts;
- Prepare financial reports and invoices;
- Provide financial management and oversight over existing projects in conjunction with project staff and PIs
- Coordinate narrative reports per donor requirements;
- Manage contract review process for all new agreements and sub agreements;
- Track grant requirements and deliverables;
- Communicate with donor institutions to ensure IPA remains compliant with requirements;
- Liaise between external donors and PIs
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- 2 - 3 years of experience in grants management, preferably for a global nonprofit or academic institution
- Experience and knowledge of USAID rules and regulations desired
- Bachelors Degree with strong academic performance
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience with accounting systems desirable
- Experience with database management desirable
- Interest in working in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment
