Post Title; Development Coordinator
General Information
Location: Washington, DC
Division: MTCS
Reports To: New Business Director

Position Summary
The Development Coordinator is a member of the Media, Technology and Civil Society Division’s new business development team. S/he supports all aspects of the business development process, including research, assessment, design, partner identification and negotiation, proposal writing and preparation, and budgeting. The position is critical to successful implementation of IREX’s strategies for expanding its work in the civil society, media and technology sectors and offers significant opportunity for professional growth.
Duties & Responsibilities

Principle responsibilities include:

  •     Support all aspects of designing and preparing proposals in response to donor funding opportunities
  •     Conduct research on existing programming, possible partners, design approaches, potential personnel and other assignments
  •     Research costing issues, develop budgets and prepare cost proposals
  •     Advance development of partnerships with local, regional and international organizations
  •     Prepare written and visual components of proposals

Qualifications

  •     Demonstrated commitment to a career in international development, with at least 2 years of professional experience strongly preferred. Additional years of experience will be an advantage.
  •     Experience in the design and preparation of proposals for donor organizations, including USAID and other U.S. government agencies
  •     Experience in civil society, media or technology development sectors preferred
  •     Excellent writing and editing skills, and detail-orientated approach
  •     Comfort with numbers and budgets, and facility with Excel  
  •     Ability to engage pro-actively with a wide range of partners, experts and other contacts 
  •     Ability to represent IREX publically, including in person and through digital platforms
  •     Geographic expertise and/or proficiency in a second language preferred
