Job Description
As the Director, Operations for Strategic Programming and Sponsorship Effectiveness (SPSE) you’ll provide overarching operational guidance to the SPSE department. Support the VP SPSE and leadership team to implement the department's strategy by developing and monitoring internal policies, procedures, and protocols to facilitate internal integration of all teams and members. Promote consistency of service through collaboration with SPSE leadership to ensure seamless management of systems, structure, and staffing needs in light of portfolio volumes and workload variations. Facilitate interface between the SPSE unit and operations leadership in other WVUS/International Programs Group (IPG) departments to promote operational excellence and integration across teams. Help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.
Keep Christ central in our individual and corporate lives. Attend and participate in the leadership of devotions, weekly Chapel services, and regular prayer.
Responsibilities include:
Leadership:
- Lead in the establishment of procedures, processes and systems designed to assist and motivate a large and geographically disbursed team to achieve or exceed programmatic quality goals and objectives.
- Develop and monitor team scorecard indicators and internal budgets for the department to ensure appropriate, organizationally effective, and timely accomplishment of mission. Ensure alignment with work plans as well as WVUS, Global Centre and Regional Office policies.
- Lead long-term planning for operational initiatives, providing analysis and recommendations to vice president.
- Lead Program Capability Review process for WVUS and Peer Review process for IPG.
- When necessary, perform duties as acting Vice President, SPSE.
Management:
- Hire, fire, train, counsel, evaluate, and recommend salary increases and promotions for those under direct supervision.
- Monitor department's budget, policies and procedures and ensure all SPSE staff are oriented to WV Core documents, policies and procedures.
- Partner with Human Resources to address SPSE HR related issues.
- Relationship/Networks:
- Work collaboratively within WVUS and across the WV Partnership to promote, facilitate and attain program strategic objectives and goals.
- Develop or manage the development of all key department wide strategic communication products intended for internal stakeholders; lead internal communication strategy implementation.
- Attend meetings and conferences as required.
Perform other duties as required.
Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (eight years). Advanced degree preferred. Work experience in international development, preferably international program operations, or related field; 5-8 years. Must have strong relational and networking skills. Fluency in relevant second language highly desirable. Previous international work experience strongly desired.
Working Environment / Conditions
Standard office environment. Some travel required. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US at the time of application.
