About the Job:
FHI 360 is seeking a Technical Advisor. S/he will provide technical leadership and programmatic management of programs focused on orphans and vulnerable children and their caregivers.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership in a specific technical component and activities related to household economic strengthening, education, psychosocial support, health and nutrition, child protection, social protection, and legal protection, asset protection strategies such as savings led microfinance for vulnerable populations, rural economic development, and pro-poor into value chains;
- Design, prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate OVC programs within broader scope of national guidelines;
- Develop training programs responsive to OVC and their caregivers needs, building local capacity in program implementation;
- Provide technical leadership in design, development, planning, implementation, and capacity-building of specific technical components;
- Work with staff and external partners to generate research, case studies and lessons learned documentation to build an evidence base;
- Conduct and/or oversee country-level strategy development initiatives;
- Organize presentations and events, engage relevant networks, and communities of practice;
- Author white papers, briefs, and guidelines on good practices and program approaches;
- Maintain a constructive dialogue and technical exchange with field counterparts and technical staff of implementing partners and other FHI 360 departments and projects;
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with donor/client organizations, relevant government agencies, bilateral, and other NGOs;
- Develop tools for the design and implementation of specific technical components;
- Represent FHI 360 in appropriate technical forums, events, and conferences;
- Up to 45% travel to developing country locations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences or its international equivalent;
- At least 8 years of experience in economic strengthening and livelihoods development or related field as outlined above;
- Demonstrated competence to assess priorities, manage a variety of time-sensitive tasks, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse people, clients, government officials, and consultants;
- Ability to work as an effective team member in a complex and fast-paced environment;
- Writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills;
- Familiarity and experience with USAID, and other public and private donors;
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English. Portuguese or French language skills a plus;
- Informed of current program developments in OVC technical area.
