    Scope of Position: This role will assist with providing technical expertise in the areas of telephony (i.e. Avaya Red and Avaya Blue) as well as planning, implementing and maintaining the enhanced and next generation hardware and software systems. The ideal candidate for this position requires initiative, thorough planning skills, and ability to prioritize to ensure implementation, operation and maintenance of technology.  Help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies.         Support


  •         Coordinate voice/data network circuit orders and installations.
  •         Work with vendors to negotiate rate reduction and assure successful service delivery and invoicing.
  •         Negotiate telephony maintenance contracts, long distance rates and volume voice contracts.
  •         Review voice network utilization statistics to verify that circuits are properly sized. Take proactive approaches in provisioning bandwidth to meet needs or determine more analysis is required to determine types of bandwidth usage.
  •         Maintain current configurations on hardware firmware, network, and operating systems.
  •         Perform routine installations of hardware, operating systems, software, software patches and peripherals.
  •         Responsible for creating and managing security and integrity of World Vision data.

        3.  Configuration Management
        Configure environments (hardware and/or operating systems) for performance.
        Engineer, configure and lead the design, configuration and deployment of Voice network.
        Deliver to current client requirements and generate additional consulting work by understanding the client's need and showing them the justification for new telephony technologies that fit their business.
        Test and evaluate new hardware and software for compatibility and compliance with WVUS standards. Define and document for others.
        4.  Troubleshooting

        Serve as tier 1, 2 and/or tier 3 for voice networks and related network infrastructure devices.
        Assist clients in the daily support of voice and data network infrastructure
        Provide on-call customer support and make hardware and software support calls.

    5.  Prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

    6.  Recommend system modifications to improve environment efficiency.

    7.  Attend change control approval meetings.

    8.  Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team.

    9.  Perform other duties as assigned.

    10.  Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.
Required Experience

  •         Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (eight years). Work experience in information systems or related field; 6-10 years. Professional certification may be required.
  •         Experience working with Avaya and Nortel systems or significant demonstrated experience in a related field.
  •         Experience in troubleshooting telephone systems/software, voice engineering (hardware and software), and designing/planning/implementing voice systems.
  •         Experience in VoIP or voice network engineering - PBX, VM, VoIP, QoS, IVR, ACD and cost analysis.
  •         Thorough knowledge of Voice over IP systems and legacy telephony switches and analog devices.
  •         Good understanding of LAN and WAN  - VLAN, Voice VLAN, VTP, STP, POE, Routing and Switching concepts.
  •         Knowledge of the TCP/IP OSI Layer and QoS.
  •         Ability to communicate effectively with service requestors to gather requirements for telephony systems design.
  •         Ability to work and build rapport with vendors for the purpose of acquiring supplies and services in support of company voice systems
  •         Ability to own and drive problem resolution with positive customer satisfaction and active communication.
Working Environment / Conditions
Standard office environment. Requires the ability to lift at least 25 pounds, bend, squat, kneel and climb to install and remove equipment. Some travel may be required.
