This position is located in the Foundation Realization Team of Umoja in the Department of Management in New York. The Intern reports to Business Analyst within the Foundation Realization Team.
The Department of Management/Umoja internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the Office. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
The intern will support technical development and implementation of the Umoja ERP Project. He/she will be responsible for supporting/setup and updating of project plans, tracking resources, activities, and reporting status.
Responsibilities will also include the following:
- Create Presentations and report to Senior Management;
- Monitor Projects;
- Perform Project Planning activities;
- Develop status reports/scorecards;
- Analyze Project risks & issues;
- Maintain a resource pool levelling multiple projects against resources;
- Develop global project resource plans for execution of project deliverables, including staffing of transient resources as necessary;
- Report project status, progress, conflicts, and budget analysis across supported projects to Project Managers.
Education
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second level university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undegraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
