About the Job:
Accion is seeking a Global Investments Intern. S/he will be an integral team member of the global investments department/ S/he will work in partnership with investment officers, executing complex microfinance debt and equity transactions for organization’s gateway and bridge funds.

Tasks and Responsibilities:


  •     Assist in the preparation of investment, debt, and credit guarantee proposals for approval by the finance committee of organization’s board;
  •     Support with a variety of financial analytics including financial statements analysis, projections and valuation of equity and debt transactions;
  •     Prepare detailed financial and valuation models in connection to proposed debt and equity transactions;
  •     Conduct market research on the microfinance industry and general financial sector regulations of countries identified as candidates for debt and equity investments;
  •     Coordinate communication with other areas within organization, in particular with the finance department, to ensure efficient interaction, collaboration, and timely response in the execution of deliverables;
  •     Develop a governance packet that outlines organization’s governance policies, and frequently asked questions;
  •     Develop a methodology for sharing, and facilitating the exchange of, governance information and documents, including best practices, relevant templates, and policies on processes and procedures with all relevant stakeholders;
  •     Map out and coordinate logistics for training sessions and annual meeting of board and shareholder representatives to be hosted by organization. Work with global trainings and/or HR to plan and execute these trainings;
  •     Gather, summarize, and maintain information regarding directors and officers insurance (including policies and local insurance requirements);
  •     Maintain and update the matrix being used to track board seats held by staff and management, and all relevant information relating to those seats, such as D&O insurance, honoraria, expenses, committee assignments, etc;
  •     Work to streamline the governance tracking process, and to move this information into an online client relationship management tool;
  •     Coordinate governance advisory task force meetings, including agendas, summaries, and action items.

Qualifications:


  •     Bachelor degree in Finance/Business Administration/Economics, with more than years of related work experience (preferably in investment banking or private equity);
  •     MBA in Finance, a plus;
  •     Strong Excel skills in connection to financial projections and valuation analysis;
  •     Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel);
  •     Demonstrated communication skills to include excellent oral and written English language skills and ability to communicate ideas effectively;
  •     Cultural sensitivity/ability to interact effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and multi-cultural environments;
  •     Bilingual or fluent in Spanish a strong plus.
