Background Information             
This position is located in the Policy Coordination Unit of the Programme Planning and Budget Division of the Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts.  The incumbent reports to the Programme Budget Officer(s) and to the Chief of the Unit.

Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Chief of Unit and reporting directly to the Programme
Budget Officer(s), the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:
·         Assists the PBO compiling information and conducting researches relating to cost estimates, performance reports, budget reports and the review of budget submissions;
·         Retrieves, formats and validates the information obtained from various financial information systems and brings any discrepancy or inaccuracy to the attention of the PBO;
·         Assists the PBO in the preparation of allotments, staffing table authorizations and costing standards;
·         Attends and prepares draft minutes from the meetings of IGB and relevant counterparts;
·         Liaises with counterparts to ensure the timely availability of information necessary for the completion of budgetary reports or supplementary information for IGB and its appropriate distribution;
·         Assists the PBO with administrative and clerical functions, including the registering of correspondence and data entry various databases;
·         Serve as a back-up to colleagues performing similar functions;
·         Provides stand-by services during the weekends, holidays and outside normal working hours, as necessary;
·         Performs other assigned duties as required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in finance, budget or related area is required. Work experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
