Charles Darwin University financial aid programs to students

The following information has been provided as a useful starting point for students from the US, Canada and India who are seeking financial assistance through international financial aid programs to assist with costs associated with studying at Charles Darwin University.
US students

Federal student loans
Charles Darwin University is a 'Deferment Only' institution from 1st January 2013 and therefore no longer certifies US Federal Loans such as loans applied for under the Direct Loan Program (DLP) or the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).

Deferring Loans

Charles Darwin University can approve deferments for students who have already received US Federal Student Loans. If you have in the past received a US Federal Student Loan and you are enrolled at Charles Darwin University, you can apply to defer repayment of those loans. Please contact your lender for the appropriate deferment form and submit this with your request to the US Financial Aid Officer in OIS.

Scholarship Title: ACER International Student Scholarship (AISS)

Charles Darwin University offers a range of scholarships to International students, as well as information about other types of Australian Scholarships available.

The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) has launched the ACER International Student Scholarship (AISS) to help support an international student who wishes to study for a first-year undergraduate Business degree at an Australian university. The scholarship is valued at AUD$50 000, payable to the host university in instalments each semester over two to three years to cover tuition fees.

The inaugural scholarship will be awarded in February 2014, to the student with the highest score in the selection test, the International Student Admissions Test (ISAT), for undergraduate first-year Business studies commencing that year.

What does the student need to do?

1.     Check their eligibility for the Scholarship and apply at www.acer.edu.au/aiss.  Applications will close on 1 February 2014.

2.     Register for the Scholarship Selection Test (ISAT) (fee applies). All the information about the test can be found at http://www.isat.acer.edu.au.

3.     Sit the test at their preferred test location.

4.     Receive their ISAT results soon after sitting the test.

5.     Wait to hear about their Scholarship application outcome from the AISS Office in February 2014. ACER will communicate with all Scholarship applicants.

Criteria:              

Streamline Refinance is pleased to offer scholarships for students who are currently enrolled in finance, economics, or investment related fields and who are pursuing advanced education in these particular areas.

Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age or older and be accepted to or attending a full-time finance, economics, or investment program at an accredited institution of learning. Applicant must be either a citizen of the United States or a foreign student with a valid United States Visa. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on the previous year's academic performance

2. Scholarship Title: United States Military V.A. Loan Disability  Awareness Scholarship

Military V.A. Loan is pleased to offer a scholarship in support of disability awareness. Anyone can apply for this scholarship as long as they are at least 17 years of age and be accepted to and/or attending a full-time higher education program at an accredited institution of learning; they must also have a minimum of 3.0 GPA based on the previous year's academic performance.

3. Scholarship Title: Walmart Foundation Scholarship Programs

Criteria:              

Several scholarship programs available, including: The Walmart Associate Scholarship available to Walmart and Sam’s Club associates; The Sam Walton Community Scholarship available to graduating seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA and a demonstrated financial need; The Walmart Dependent Scholarship available to Walmart and Sam’s Club dependents of associates who are graduating seniors with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a demonstrated financial need; and Walton Family Foundation Scholarship available to dependents of Walmart and Sam’s Club associates who have at least a 22 ACT or 1030 SAT score and prove financial need.

4. Scholarship Title:  Writers of the Future Scholarship Contest

Criteria:              

Applicants must not have published a novel or manuscript previously. Submit a typed 17,000 word original prose written in English. All works submitted remain the sole property of the individual submitting. One entry may be submitted per quarter.

Criteria:              

Eligibility is for any student currently enrolled for the 2013/14 school year at any college or university within the United States or Canada. Students must be 16 years or older at time of enrollment. Part of the application process requires individuals to submit a 500-3,000 word essay.
